NLOG local walks protocol

  • Please ensure you have familiarised yourself with the fact sheets before joining a walk.
  • Please could all walk leaders send the local walks coordinator the names of all attendees.
  • If you would like a lift or are able to offer one, please use the group email to arrange this with group members.
  • Unfortunately we no longer allow dogs to join us on our walks.
  • You take part in all events at your own risk.
  JULY
Thursday 3rd EVENING WALK - GOLDERS GREEN TO HIGHGATE - A 4.5 mile linear walk starting from Golders Green Tube station (Northern Line – Edgware Branch) continuing through West Heath, Hampsted Heath and Highgate Village.

Meet: Golders Green tube station at 6.30pm for 6.45pm start. The walk finishes at Highgate Station (Northern Line – Barnet branch)
Sunday 6th DAY WALK - FLAMSTEAD/MARKYATE - 1A 10 mile circular walk along paths through woods and across fields of crops. Plenty of grazing horses to be seen in the fields too. Please bring a drink and a packed lunch.

Meet: at 10.30 am outside the Three Blackbirds pub (closed down), 2 High Street, Flamstead, AL3 8BS. Parking in residential streets near the pub (Trowley Hill Road or College Close). 22 miles from Barnet Everyman.

Friday 11th - Sunday 13th WEEKEND AWAY – YHA HARTINGTON, PEAK DISTRICT - See details in members email.
Wednesday 16th EVENING WALK - POTTERS BAR - A 4 mile circular walk along footpaths and fields around Potters Bar. We will go to the Admiral Byng afterwards where you should be able to get food as well as a drink.

Thursday 24th EVENING WALK - RIDGE CIRCULAR - A 4 mile circular walk. Option for refreshments back at the Old Guinea pub afterwards.

Meet: 6.50pm for 7.00pm start outside The Old Guinea Pub, Ridge, Herts EN6 3LH.
Sunday 27th DAY WALK - WARE - A 10 mile circular walk following the canal then to Wareside area via woods and streams. There are tea shops in Ware town, but please bring water and a packed lunch. (approx 40 minute drive from Barnet)

Meet: 10.00 am at Kibes Lane NORTH car park, Ware, SG12 9BX (there now appears to be a £2.00 charge to park on Sundays)
Tuesday 29th EVENING WALK - REGENTS PARK / PRIMROSE HILL - A 3.5 mile circular walk around Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill. The Regent’s Park area provides elegant and interesting settings for walkers in the heart of London. The park was the idea of the Prince Regent, later to become George IV. Much of the design was by John Nash.

Friday 1st EVENING WALK - WILD HILL - A 4 mile circular walk.

Meet: outside The Woodman pub, Wild Hill AL9 6EA for a prompt 6.30pm start (do not park in pub car park).
Thursday 7th EVENING WALK - NOTORIOUS LONDON: THE EASTERN CITY WALK - A 3.5 mile circular walk from the city wall in the east. Focusing, as ever, on the macabre, the walk will take in the locations of botched executions, the final resting place of thousands of plague victims and the site at which evidence from a murder scene may have finally revealed the identity of Jack the Ripper. If that’s not enough, there are literary connections a-plenty, as well as the stone at the symbolic heart of the city.

Meet: Tower Hill Underground Station (Circle/District Line) 6.50pm for a 7pm start.
Sunday 10th DAY WALK - BUNTINGFORD CIRCULAR - An 11 mile circular walk from Buntingford. A walk through fields and woodland with lovely views across Hertfordshire. Bring lunch and drinks with you. There will be the opportunity for a drink in Buntingford after the walk. Approx. 40 minutes’ drive from Barnet. Car park is free on Sunday.

Monday 11th EVENING WALK - BARNET COURT HOUSE CIRCULAR - A 3 mile circular walk, from Barnet Everyman, up to High Barnet via the Old Court House Recreation Ground, returning through King George’s Fields and Highland Gardens.

Wednesday 20th EVENING WALK - HAWKSHEAD WOOD WALK (near South Mimms) - A 3.5 mile circular walk.

Friday 29th EVENING WALK - TRENT PARK - A short circular walk in Trent Park (under 4 miles), starting and ending by Oakwood Station. Followed by an optional meal locally. Bring a torch.
