NLOG local walks protocol
- Please ensure you have familiarised yourself with the fact sheets before joining a walk.
- Please could all walk leaders send the local walks coordinator the names of all attendees.
- If you would like a lift or are able to offer one, please use the group email to arrange this with group members.
- Unfortunately we no longer allow dogs to join us on our walks.
- You take part in all events at your own risk.

Sunday 12th | Day Walk - WARE CIRCULAR A 10 mile circular walk, south along the River Lee from Ware then north to Wareside (ish), returning via Cold Christmas and Ashridge Common. Weather looks a tropical 11c with some light rain per current forecast. Meet: at 10.30 outside Waterside Inn, Bridgefoot, Ware SG12 9DW. Parking option Kibes Lane South Car Park, SG12 9HS is close to the start and is £1.50 on Sunday per Google - but best check the details yourself. |
Tuesday 14th | Social - Discovery Hall Talk. Chris Truran joins us again with a talk titled ‘Dabs and DNA detect Criminals’. From the first burglar caught by fingerprints to the development and use of DNA in 1984. Meet: at Discovery Hall at 8pm. |
Sunday 19th | Day Walk - POTTERS BAR / BROOKMAN’S PARK A 10 mile circular walk. Walk starts from Brookmans Park train station. Meet: at 10.00 am outside Tealicious 83 Bradmor Green, AL9 7QT. |
Wednesday 22nd | Mid-Week Walk - HIGHGATE CIRCULAR 4-mile pleasant circular walk from Highgate Station through Queens Wood, Crouch End Playing fields, Priory Park (cafe stop for refreshments) onwards to Alexander Palace and taking in a short section of a disused railway - Parkland Walk North, to join Highgate Woods and back onto Highgate Station. Meet: 10:50 am for 11am start at Highgate Station, Muswell Hill Rd Exit N6 5UE. |
Sunday 26th | Day Walk - ST ALBANS A 10-mile walk taking in Batchwood, Heartwood Forest, Harpenden Common and Childwickbury. Return by about 3pm. Meet: 10:15am start. See members e-mail for details. Non-members wishing to attend, please request location details via the contact form. |

Tuesday 11th | Social - Discovery Hall Talk. Sue will cover how she got into creating Wax Figures at Madame Tussaud’s, which involves the hair & colouring processes used in making a wide variety of celebrities. (She will bring a variety of materials/tools she regularly uses). She will also show images of several projects she has worked on since becoming freelance. Meet: at Discovery Hall at 8pm. |
Friday 14th | Summer Evening Walk - TRENT PARK CIRCULAR A short walk in Trent Park (under 4 miles), followed by a meal locally. Bring a torch. Meet: 7:00pm under the clock outside Oakwood Tube Station (Piccadilly Line). |
Sunday 16th | Day Walk - CLOPHILL A 10 mile circular walk around Clophill, Wrest Park and Silsoe. Details to follow shortly. Meet: TBC |
Wednesday 19th | Summer Evening Walk - THE SOUTH BANK A 4-mile linear walk from Waterloo Station to The Tower of London. From Waterloo Station we’ll go via Lambeth Palace to the Thames, past the London Eye, Southbank Centre, National Theatre, Oxo Tower, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Clink, Southwark Cathedral, HMS Belfast and we’ll finish our 4-Mile riverside tour by crossing Tower Bridge. Meet: 6.45pm for a 7pm start at Waterloo Station, at the meeting point outside the station Information Office. |
Monday 24th | Summer Evening Walk - BLUEBELL WALK A three mile circular walk to see the bluebells in Gobions Wood. Meet: 6.50pm for 7.00 pm start outside Tealicious 83-85 Bradmor Green, AL9 7QT. |

Wednesday 26th | Summer Evening Walk - EAST FINCHLEY LINEAR WALK Approx 4.5 miles from East Finchley through Lyttleton Playing Fields, Heath Ext and Kenwood, ending at Highgate tube. Meet: for a 6.45pm start at East Finchley station |
Sunday 30th | Half Day Walk - CASSIOBURY PARK A 6 mile circular walk in Cassiobury Park. The route takes us by the River Gade, Grand Union Canal towards Chandler’s cross and into Whippendell, Blackets and Dolly’s Woods which are often blanketed in bluebells at this time of year. Refreshments are available afterwards at Daisy’s cafe in the park. Meet: at 9:50am for 10am start at Cassiobury Park Car Park, Gade Ave, Watford WD18 7LG |

Thursday 4th | Summer Evening Walk - SOUTH MIMMS CIRCULAR An approximately 4 mile gentle circular walk through woodlands and over farmland. Meet: 7.15 pm outside the Black Horse pub, end of Blackhorse Lane, South Mimms EN6 3PS |

Thursday 18th | Summer Evening Walk - HADLEY COMMON & WOODS TO JACKS LAKE 4 mile (approx) circular walk through picturesque Monken Hadley Common and Woods to Jack’s Lake and back. Meet: 7.00 pm start outside Ye Olde Monken Holt The Monk pub, 193 High Street, Barnet EN5 5SU. |

Thursday 25th | Summer Evening Walk - BARNET WHITINGS HILL A 4.5 mile circular walk from Barnet, following the Dollis Valley to Whitings Hill Open Space and back again. Meet: for a prompt 6:30pm start outside the Barnet Everyman cinema, Great North Road, Barnet EN5 1AB. |
Wednesday 31st | Summer Evening Walk - HIGHBURY FIELDS LINEAR WALK The impressive new Emirates Stadium, Gillespie Park - a local nature reserve, and on through Finsbury Park to take the route of a disused railway track- Parkland Walk South, to Highgate underground station/Woodman Pub where the walk ends. Option of staying on for a drink after. Meet: for a 6.45pm start at Highbury & Islington Station The Monk pub, 193 High Street, Barnet EN5 5SU. |
