- Please ensure you have familiarised yourself with the fact sheets before joining a walk.
- Please could all walk leaders send the local walks coordinator the names of all attendees.
- If you would like a lift or are able to offer one, please use the group email to arrange this with group members.
- Unfortunately we no longer allow dogs to join us on our walks.
- You take part in all events at your own risk.

Sunday 6th | DAY WALK - THE AYOTS, BROCKET PARK AND RIVER LEA - A 10 mile circular walk starting at Wheathampstead, passing through Ayot St Lawrence and Ayot Green before returning via Brocket Park and the river Lea. Friday 11th | EVENING WALK - TRENT PARK - A short circular walk in Trent Park (under 4 miles), starting and ending by Oakwood Station. Followed by an optional meal locally. Bring a torch. Sunday 13th | DAY WALK - ASHWELL, HERTFORDSHIRE - a 10 mile circular day walk around the medieval village of Ashwell in north Hertfordshire. London citizens fled the great fire in 1666 and left inscriptions in the church - we can view if time. The walk passes a 1,000 year old church at Caldecote and through the medieval village of Hinxworth. We finish with drinks at The Three Tuns pub. Bring a packed lunch. Monday 14th | EVENING WALK - BARNET WHITINGS HILL - A 4.5 mile circular walk from Barnet, following the Dollis Valley to Whitings Hill open space and back again. Thursday 24th | EVENING WALK - THE SOUTHBANK - A 4-mile linear central London walk from Waterloo Station to The Tower of London. From Waterloo Station we’ll go via Lambeth Palace to the Thames, past the London Eye, Southbank Centre, National Theatre, Oxo Tower, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Clink, Southwark Cathedral, HMS Belfast and we’ll finish our 4-Mile riverside tour by crossing Tower Bridge. Walk leader: Claire Meet: 6.45pm for a 7pm start at Waterloo Station, at the meeting point outside the station Information Office. |

Sunday 4th | HALF DAY WALK - CASSIOBURY PARK, WATFORD - A 6 mile circular walk in Cassiobury Park. The route takes us by the River Gade, Grand Union Canal towards Chandler’s cross and into Whippendell, Blackets and Dolly’s Woods which are often blanketed in bluebells at this time of year. Refreshments are available afterwards at Daisy’s cafe in the park. Walk leader: Claire Meet: at 9:50am for 10am start at Cassiobury Park Car Park, Gade Ave, Watford WD18 7LG |
Thursday 8th | EVENING WALK - CENTRAL LONDON LITERARY WALK - Charing Cross Road and Fitzrovia linear walk. An evening walk starting in Charing Cross Road, the famous bookselling street, telling the story of some of its best-known names, including that of the bookseller who corresponded with Adolf Hitler! We will pass a former teashop frequented by some of the War Poets & a little known literary club. We then continue to Fitzrovia, an area of restaurants, publishing folk, small art galleries and see some of the favourite drinking haunts of George Orwell, Anthony Burgess among others & discover why one pub proved more popular than the others towards the end of the evening. Walk leader: Helen Meet: 6.45pm for 7pm start on the steps of St Martin’s in the Fields Church, Trafalgar Square. (nearby tube stations, Charing Cross or Leicester Square) The walk will end at Goodge Street Station. |
Sunday 11th | DAY WALK - SIX PARKS CIRCULAR WALK, BARNET - A 9-mile circular walk from Barnet, taking in 6 parks - Oak Hill, Brunswick, Arnos, Broomfield, Grovelands and Oakwood. Please bring lunch with you. There may be the opportunity to pick up a hot drink or ice cream along the way! Walk leader: Claire Meet 9.45am for a 10.00am start in Oak Hill Park, at the corner of Church Hill Road / Little Grove. |
Tuesday 13th | Social - Discovery Hall - Talk by Matt Andrews - Iceland in Winter - Aurora, Eagles and ducks, Iceland in the winter is an unexplored but spectacularly beautiful, wildlife-rich wilderness. Meet: at Discovery Hall at 8pm. |
Thursday 15th | EVENING WALK - HIGHBURY FIELDS - Linear walk starting at Highbury & Islington Station taking in Highbury Fields, the impressive new Emirates Stadium, Gillespie Park (a local nature reserve) and on through Finsbury Park to take the route of a disused railway track (Parkland Walk South) to Highgate underground station/Woodman Pub where the walk ends. Sunday 8th | DAY WALK - HAMPSTEAD HEATH CIRCULAR - An 11-mile circular day walk starting and ending at East Finchley tube station (Northern Line High Barnet Branch). We’ll start out on the Capital Ring to Highgate Woods, then go through Highgate to Hampstead Heath. Taking in the Hampstead Heath extension before a short stretch on the road to return to East Finchley tube station. Please bring lunch with you. There will be an opportunity for hot drinks during a lunch break by Golders Hill Park Refreshment House about half way round. Tuesday 10th | SOCIAL - TALK - Timandra Slade ‘From a Hard Place to a Rock’ presentation. ‘While sorting through documents she discovered in an old suitcase, Timandra Slade was astonished to uncover the remarkable story of two soldiers - her father and his cousin. Captured during the war, they managed to escape and navigate their way through occupied territory to reach Gibraltar’. The talk will include their journey crossing the Pyrenees. Her books will be available to buy on the night. Meet: at Discovery Hall at 8pm. |
Thursday 12th | EVENING WALK - ALEXANDRA PARK - A 4 mile circular walk through Alexandra Park following a former railway line, now a nature corridor, to Highgate woods and returning via footpaths to the station. Tuesday 29th | EVENING WALK - REGENTS PARK / PRIMROSE HILL - A 3.5 mile circular walk around Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill. The Regent’s Park area provides elegant and interesting settings for walkers in the heart of London. The park was the idea of the Prince Regent, later to become George IV. Much of the design was by John Nash. Walk leader: Julie Meet: 6.50pm for a prompt 7.00 pm start outside Regent’s Park underground station (Bakerloo line). |

Thursday 7th | EVENING WALK - NOTORIOUS LONDON: THE EASTERN CITY WALK - A 3.5 mile circular walk from the city wall in the east. Focusing, as ever, on the macabre, the walk will take in the locations of botched executions, the final resting place of thousands of plague victims and the site at which evidence from a murder scene may have finally revealed the identity of Jack the Ripper. If that’s not enough, there are literary connections a-plenty, as well as the stone at the symbolic heart of the city. Walk leader: Peter Meet: Tower Hill Underground Station (Circle/District Line) 6.50pm for a 7pm start. |
